Installing the mods

  1. Download the latest Fabric installer. Fabric is a mod loader that allows Minecraft to load and use our mod pack.
  2. Run the installer and the make sure to select the following options:
    • Use the “Client” tab.
    • The Minecraft version must be 1.20.1.
    • We recommend the loader version 0.17.2, but anything more recent should work.
    • The launcher location should point to your installation of Minecraft. Leaving this set to the default value should be sufficient in most situations.
    • We recommend that create profile is checked.
  3. Press Install and follow the displayed instructions.
  4. Open the folder of your Minecraft installation using a file browser. The default path in Windows is %APPDATA%\.minecraft.
  5. Open the mods folder. If there is no folder called mods, create it with this exact name (in lower case).
  6. If there are already files inside of the mods folder, back them up to some other location and remove them. Leave the mods folder empty.
Notes on alternative launchers and advanced Fabric setups

If you use alternative Minecraft launchers such as MultiMC, feel free to configure a new Fabric installation (or even reuse an existing one) following your preferred method. You do need to ensure that the versions of Minecraft and the loader are compatible with our requirements. Fabric offers detailed installation instructions for their software in their documentation.

There are several methods to install our modpack, and the next steps depend on which one you choose. The automatic method is the most convenient as it is the only one which keeps your installation updated automatically.

Security considerations

This method uses AutoModpack to automatically install and update the modpack. AutoModpack allows any server running it to put any file in your game folder, such as a virus. If you use it, please make sure you trust your server administrator. We recommend that you do not access any other servers with the same profile you use to access Nekodia. If you do not feel comfortable using AutoModpack, please follow an alternative method.

  1. Download this version of AutoModpack (more recent versions should work as long as they are for Minecraft 1.20.1) by pressing the Download button in the linked website.
  2. Place the JAR file you just downloaded inside of the mods folder.
  3. You are ready to run the game. Continue to the next section to see how.
Method B: using the Modrinth client
Manual updates required

When following this method, you are responsible for updating the modpack locally whenever we update the modpack in the server. This means that every time we announce an update, you must perform the following steps again. If you wish to avoid this problem, follow the automatic method.

This method is planned for the near future but is still not available.

Method C: manual
Manual updates required

When following this method, you are responsible for updating the modpack locally whenever we update the modpack in the server. This means that every time we announce an update, you must perform the following steps again. If you wish to avoid this problem, follow the automatic method.

  2. Extract the downloaded file.
  3. Place the contents of the downloaded file in your Minecraft installation, replacing existing files.
    • Place the JAR files contained in mods inside of Minecraft’s mods folder.
    • Place the files inside config inside of Minecraft’s config.
    • And so on for every other folder (if any).
  4. You are ready to run the game. Continue to the next section to see how.
